Obituary

Maloney, Barry Joseph, formerly of Delaware County, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully in his home in Dedham, MA on January 2, 2016 after battling cancer for over seven years. He was 51 years old. Although many of our hearts are not ready to handle such a loss, we can only celebrate the times we shared while he was with us. Barry was a man of great courage and determination, was an explorer of life, and was genuine in his beliefs with his vibrant personality. His sense of humor, love of music, and delightful storytelling are some of the many reasons he will be missed. Professionally, he worked as a graphic design editor for newspaper and publishing companies. He graduated from The Art Institute of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA, was a member of the DaVinci Art Alliance Guild, Philadelphia, PA, and was associated with Fleisher Art Memorial, Philadelphia, PA and Kaji Aso Studio, Institute for the Arts, Boston, MA for years in his passionate pursuit of fine art, poetry, and philosophy. He participated in numerous art shows as well as solo exhibits, published books of poetry, numerous essays and short stories, as well as a book entitled: The Collected Art of Barry Maloney. He deeply valued his loyal family and dear friends where that love was reflected in his gracious, kind, sensitive nature.

Barry was the beloved husband of Dawn Michele (Soska) Maloney and devoted brother of three siblings: sister, Mary (Husband, Allen) Hockenbury of VA; sister, Elizabeth (Husband, Gregory) Pastino of NJ; brother, Mark (Wife, Joann) Maloney of VA. Barry was an exceptional uncle to his nephews and nieces: Matthew (Wife, Kelsey), Alexandra, David, Anastasia, Steven, Caroline and Maya, as well as, the next generation of great-nephews, Everett and Owen. Barry was the son-in-law of Donald and Helen Soska of Harding, PA and will be sincerely missed by them, their family, and extended family and friends.
