Lewis Allen Powers, 78, of Fitzgerald passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Life Care Center in Fitzgerald. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Terrell Roberts officiating. Mr. Powers will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, January 4, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Randall Rowe, David Rowe, Julian Rowe, Jackie Edenfield, Brian Powers and Ryan Floyd will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be James Powers, Hoss Powers, Lee Walker and Lewis Eugene Powers.
Born May 30, 1937 in Tifton, Mr. Powers was the son of the late John W. Powers and Annie Laura Smith Powers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ruth O'Connor Powers and two brothers. He was a retired painter and of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Powers is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Allen and Penny Powers of Fitzgerald; a daughter, Tami Marie White of Fitzgerald; a sister, Laura Lavonne Rowe of Tifton; five grandchildren, Joseph Allen Powers, Brian Kelly Powers, Merisa Kay Powers, Jeffrey Sean Floyd and Anthony Ryan Floyd; and two great-grandchildren, Brianna Hayden Powers and Jonathyn Quinton Powers.
