
Bruce Alan Pilcher, 56, passed away from cancer at his home in Thomasville January 2, 2016. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Lonnie Lacy officiating. Bruce will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 5, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born March 9, 1959 in Madrid, Spain, Bruce was the son of the late William E. Pilcher and Louise Averette Pilcher. He attended schools in Florida and Georgia, and was graduated in 1981 from Margaret Harris High School in DeKalb County. He was a 20-year employee of the DeKalb County Workshop and a member of Glenwood Hills Baptist Church in DeKalb County. He lived briefly in Tifton, before his move to Thomasville, where he worked at the Thomas Grady Service Center.
Bruce was an Atlanta sports teams fan and enjoyed country music and bowling. He was a Special Olympian and once played on the Georgia State Baseball Championship team.
Bruce leaves his sister, Betty P. Morrell of Tifton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Herb and Darlene Pilcher of Tifton and Randy and Sharon Pilcher of Ozark, Alabama; an uncle, Boyette Averette of Sylvester; eight nieces and nephews; twelve grand-nieces and nephews; and three great-grand nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful to the Thomas Grady Service Center, Hospice of Southwest Georgia and the residents and staff of 213 Cecil Street in Thomasville for their care, kindness and love of our brother and uncle.
