Mary B. "Nana" Sarno, a Woburn resident for seventy-five years passed away December 31, 2015, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center following a short illness. She was 96 years of age. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Armando Sarno. Born in Winchester she was one of twelve children of the late Batista and Mary (Millyan) Nicotera.
Mary was raised and educated in Winchester. She settled in Woburn shortly after her marriage. Mostly devoted to her family she enjoyed cooking and making sure her home was a warm and welcoming place for her family to gather. She also enjoyed traveling and vacationing in Florida throughout her life.
In addition to her late husband Armando, Mary is sadly predeceased by her children; Ralph Sarno and Susie B. Murphy. She was the loving nana of Amanda Cail of Woburn, William Murphy of Florida, Kathleen Sarno-Larson of Orange, the late Cheryl Simonini and Debra Sarno. Loving great nana of Bill, Jack and Jillian Murphy, Billie-Sue Hutchins, Candie-Jo Cail, Jared and William Harkins, and Steven White. Also survived by many great great grandchildren.
Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Tuesday, January 5th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home Monday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
