Gertrude E. McMahon, 87 of Hampstead, NH passed away on Tuesday December 29, 2015 at home after a long illness. She was born in Somerville, MA on July 14, 1928 a daughter of the late Richard and Anna (Teufel) Cole. She was educated in the Somerville public schools and later married in 1950 to renowned WWII and Korean War Marine, Henry M. McMahon. They had two sons together, Michael and Christopher. The family moved to Hampstead in 1966.
For many years she worked for the NH state liquor store in Plaistow and the Derry Visiting Nurses Association. Her greatest accomplishment however, was as a mother and grandmother. No child ever had better. She had a sharp wit and a keen sense of humor. Blessed with sound common sense, she gave good advice to all that sought it. She loved to read and watch thoroughbred horse racing. We will not see her like again.
She is survived by her sons Michael and Christopher and their wives Lisa and Susan and by her grandchildren, Aiden, Graeson, Emma, Cole, Garrett and Declan, her beloved sister, Margaret Condit of California, along with nieces, Tish and Norma Condit, and nephew, James Condit. She also leaves her niece, Mary Ann Morgan along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins. Rest in peace Mom.
