HOLLIS- Cecil “Bill” Arthur Benson, age 78, of Bar Mills Road, passed away at his home on Dec. 28, 2015, surrounded by family.
He was born in Saco on April 16, 1937, a child of the late Cecil Asa and Beatrice (Weeman) Benson.
Bill attended Hollis schools and graduated from Hollis High School in 1951.
In his youth he worked with his father in the woods. Afterward, he went on to work in maintenance and retired from Nichols after 28 years of employment, at the age of 57 for health reasons.
Bill enjoyed camping, fishing, racing, napping, reading, and putterin'.
He was a member of the Golden Eagles Motorcycle Club, the Hollis Honkers, and the Lions Club.
He is predeceased by his first wife- Ellen and his second wife Joan.
He is survived by his children- Cecil Asa Benson and his wife Rebecca of Hollis, Elizabeth Hall of Dayton and her fiancee Kenny Stone, and Rebecca Jo Keene and her husband Daniel Dube of Hollis; sisters- Maxine Whitehouse of Hollis, Tootsie Johnson of Hollis, Phyllis Roberts of Waterboro, and Verna Dow of Saco; and grandchildren- Ellen Helena Benson, Brad Michael Benson and Jason Cecil Dube.
Bill's family would like to thank all the caregivers for their support and care in Cecil's final years.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at Meeting House Hill Cemetery in Hollis.
