Obituary

Patrick J. Michaud of 2 Fawn Drive, Gales Ferry, died December 26, 2015 at Pequot Medical Center. He was born March 12, 1936 in New London, CT, the son of Patrick N. Michaud and Doris M. Rossi. He married Loretta Boucher on September 28, 1957 at Sacred Heart Church in Groton, CT.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jeanne M. Ross (Michael) of Westbrook, CT, a son David E. Michaud (Wendy) of Seabrook, NH and three grandchildren Jessica Michaud, Kelley Ross (Jessica) and Caralyn Ross as well as his sister Patricia Kononchik of Montville CT.

He was a 1955 Graduate of Robert E. Fitch High School, where he was a standout athlete in football and track. Upon his graduation, Patrick worked for the City of Groton, Dept. of Utilities and retired in 1996 after 40 years of service. At the time of his retirement he was the Superintendent of Electrical Operations where he was responsible for the daily operations of the electrical systems. He also received an honorable discharge from the Connecticut National Guard after 11 years of service.

Patrick was a life member of the Groton Lodge of Elks. He was a member of Saint Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton, where he was a Eucharistic Minister of Communion and an Altar Server. He and his wife were actively involved in the Marriage and Baptismal preparation programs, as well as being facilitators for a Small Christian Community.

Patrick lived a life full of enjoyment. His passions included family, daily morning swims, playing horseshoes and UCONN Women’s Basketball. Throughout his life he enjoyed activities such as cross-country skiing and participating in area marathons and triathlons. Patrick had a way of bringing a smile to the face of everyone he met and a talent to make an entire room laugh!

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton, CT 06340, on Wednesday, December 29 at 1:30. There will be no calling hours. There will be a private burial for immediate family at a later date.
