Jean H. Ciardella, 83, of Lincoln died Friday evening surrounded by her family at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island in Providence. She was the wife of the late Albert A. Morand and the late Michael J. Ciardella, Jr.
Born and raised in Newtonville, MA she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Marion (Snow) Hennrikus. She lived in Framingham and later resided in the Cumberland, Lincoln and Woonsocket area.
Jean was employed at Poly-Top and later at Tech Industries for many years before retiring,
Giving of herself by volunteering her time and talents was a hallmark of Jean’s life. She translated her skill at knitting into making over 300 lap blankets for veterans in hospitals and nursing homes. With their signature red white and blue design her blankets have been received with special gratitude by many who have served our country. Additionally Jean was a volunteer for Because He Lives Ministries, a true “people person” Jean enjoyed helping to prepare meals for those less fortunate. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by two sons Daniel A. Morand and his wife, Doreen Valois, of Cumberland and Albert A. Morand of Manville, three daughters Donna J. Daigle and her husband, John, of Texas, Jeannie M. Zuba and her husband, John, of Hartland, VT and Mary E. Gervais and her husband, Roger, of Lincoln. She was the mother of the late Dennis Albert Morand sister of the late George Hayes, Robert and John Hennrikus and Marion Elizabeth Petty. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren Justine M. Zuba, Michael J. Newby, Shawn C. Daigle, Angela B. Morand and Grace K. Gervais, 2 great-grandchildren Kristofer S. Mincey and Iris E. Morand and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 am in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery on Blackstone Blvd. in Providence. Visiting hours are Thursday morning from 9-11 am prior to services. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI., 1085 North Main St. Providence. RI. 02904.
