Franklin----- Lorraine D. Poire', age 86, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 24, 2015 at the Golden Crest Senior Resort in Franklin, NH. She was born on June 6, 1929 in Worcester, MA, the oldest daughter of the late Ulmont and Yvonne (Nadeau) Bickford.
Lorraine grew up in Laconia and met her future husband Roland while going to school. They married on June 5, 1948 and resided at 51 Addison St., Laconia for 63 years. Together they raised four boys. Lorraine worked as a waitress at the Alberg, as a grocery clerk at the Grand Union and also as a factory worker at Gilbert Clock and Franklin Brush, but was mostly a stay at home mom. Her boys will always remember and admire her many talents, especially her "master fort building" talent. Lorraine's pride and joy was her family.
Lorraine's hobbies included bowling, making puzzles, crosswords and knitting for her family and for the children's auction. She loved feeding "her" birds and watching "her" chickadees.
Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 67 years Roland E. Poire'; four sons, Michael and his wife Lynn of Sanbornton, Wayne and his wife Susan of Willcox, AZ, Robert and his partner Anne White of Meredith and James (Jamie) of Laconia; younger sister Jean Shaver of Salisbury, MD; two sister in laws, Janet Bickford of Belmont, NH and Linda Queen of Ugonier, PA; six grandchildren, Camille Thompson and her husband Blaine and Nicholas and Tyler Poire', all of Arizona and Sarah, Joshua and Eric Poire', all of NH. Lorraine also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her brothers Richard, Larry and Robert and her sister Irene.
A mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the St. Andre Bessette St. Joseph Church, 30Church St., Laconia.
Burial will immediately follow in St. Lamberts Cemetery, Province St., Laconia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lorraine's name to Golden Crest Activities Fund, 29 Baldwin St., Franklin, NH 03235.
