Laconia----- Richard V. Breton, age 79, of Laconia, NH, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 after a long illness at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, NH. He was born on October 1, 1936 in Manchester, NH the son of the late Leonello and Lena Breton (Hashie).
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air force during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Richard worked as the Beneficial Finance Branch Manager from 1957 to 1971, as executive director of the Family Financial Counseling Service of New Hampshire and Vermont from 1972 to 1981 and as the NH Savings Bank vice president and manager from 1981 to 1985. He then worked as a certified financial planner with Shearson Lehaman Brothers, A.G. Edwards, Wells Fargo Advisors and Wedbush Securities from 1985 to the present.
Richard was a member of the Laconia Kiwanis Club, the Southern Carroll City Kiwanis Club and was on the N.E. Kiwanis Foundation Board serving as Lieutenant Governor. Richard also served on the Laconia City Council Ward 5 from 1971-1974 and Ward 3 in 2005. He was the Laconia Water Works commissioner for twenty years.
Richard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Priscilla T. Breton (Boucher) and son Richard L. Breton and his wife MaryAnn; two grandchildren, Meghan Ann and Caroline Marie Breton; sister- in- laws Phyllis Breton of Auburn, NH and Charlotte Bouchard; Brother in-law Donald Boucher and his wife Judy and Richard F. Boucher. Richard is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by an infant son Michael J. Breton in 1970 and his two brothers, Leon A. and Maurice R. Breton.
All are welcome to attend calling hours on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, using the carriage house entrance.
A mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the St. Andre Bessette Parish Sacred Heart Church, Union Ave, Laconia, NH.
A private burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.
