Mary Louise Merritt died peacefully in her sleep in Westwood, Ma on December 18 at the age of 96. She was born in Chicago on June 24, 1919. Her parents were Robert and Mary McKisson. She attended New Trier High school in Winnetka, Illinois, and Connecticut College. In May 1941, she married Haines Rennyson Merritt, Jr and they lived in East Aurora, NY for 62 years. Mary Lou moved to Fox Hill Village in 2004 and was most recently a resident at White Oak Cottages at Fox Hill.
Mary Lou is survived by 4 children, Nancy Merritt of New Hampshire and Paris France, Judith Merritt of Roslindale, MA, Patricia Merritt of West Nyack, NY and H. Rennyson Merritt, III of Amherst, Ma. 8 grandchildren, Tucker Woods, Devon Simmons, Katia Asthalter, Rebecca Asthalter, Riley, Breck, Sawyer and Whitaker Merritt. She also had 4 great grandchildren, Kaelyn and Emma Woods, Wyatt and Harper Simmons. Her in-laws included Richard Asthalter, Jeffrey Scott, Janet Taft and Rebecca Woods. Memorial service in celebration of her life will be held Saturday,January 9 at the First Church of Dedham at 11:00am.
