Thomas Patrick “Pat” Bailey, 80, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at his residence. Honoring his request, there will be a private graveside service Friday, December 18, 2015, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. Rev. Andy Ring will officiate.
Born December 10, 1935 in Blountstown, Florida, Mr. Bailey was the son of the late Elton and Mildred Daniels Bailey. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Caroline Bailey. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, retiring after 20 years of service as Chief Petty Officer from the United States Navy, where he was a Chief Hospital Corpsman. He also worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing and working with his dogs. He also loved planting a garden each year. He was of the Methodist faith.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie Hodnett Bailey; two children, Daniel Bailey of Tifton and Valerie Roach and husband Jeff of Chula; two grandchildren, Jackson Bailey and Jared Roach; two sisters, Kay Metcalf and Lynda Moorman and husband Raleigh, all of Tifton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Everett and Betty Jean Bailey of Montgomery, Alabama, Nelson and Ruth Bailey of Omega and James and Audrey Bailey of Omega. He is also survived by his two beloved Labrador retrievers, Charlie and Daisy.
