Obituary

Violet Mae “Vi” (Williams) Hall, age 80, of 137 Ring Drive, Groton, died Tuesday at Mariner Healthcare at Bride Brook in Niantic where she had been a resident for the past year.

Violet was born December 8, 1921 the daughter of Joseph Harold Williams and Helen Townsend (Sebastian) Williams. Raised in Mystic and Stonington, she attended local schools and was a 1939 graduate of Stonington High School.

She was married to Leon N. Hall in Mystic on January 10, 1942. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary..

Violet was an elder of the Eastern Pequot Indian Tribe and will be remembered for her strong sense of character and vitality.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two grandchildren Jodi Lyn Moore of Groton and Jeffrey Sheldon Hall of North Kingstown, RI, 3 nephews, 4 nieces, 4 great-nephews, and 5 great-nieces, and a host of cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Thyeis Hall who died July 11, 1987 And her sister, Joan Irene “Stillwaters” Williams who died Jan. 5, 1999.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 12noon until 12:45 followed by a service at 1pm. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
