Joan E. (Sacco) Sullivan passed away at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Tuesday morning. She was 74. Born and raised in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Dorothea K. (Weldon) Sacco. She graduated high school and earned a degree at Westbrook Junior College. Joan went to work as a secretary at The Boston Garden in the office Walter Brown, manager of the Boston Garden and founder of the Celtics. Once married, she devoted herself to raising and caring for her children. She returned to the work force and was a beloved secretary at the Dame and Columbus Elementary Schools in Medford. Joan enjoyed spending time at her home in Marshfield where she enjoyed spending time with her family and her many dear friends.
The devoted, mother of Doreen M. Sullivan of Medford, Daniel E. Sullivan Jr. of Los Angeles and Gregg R. Sullivan of Medford, Joan was a loving grandmother to Kyle, Chloe and Jenna. She was a dear sister of Ernest Paul Sacco Jr. of FL, George R. Sacco and his wife Sandra of Medford, Dorothy Hartwell and her husband Paul of Stoneham, Joseph Sacco and his wife Maria of Woburn, Katheryn Feeley of Medford, Albert Sacco of Medford, Robert Sacco and his wife Lisa of Stoneham. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews. Joan is the former wife and dear friend of Daniel E. Sullivan Sr. of Medford.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday, December 19th at 8:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 9:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family on Friday 4-8 PM.
