Elizabeth was born on July 26, 1927 in Laconia, NH, the daughter of the late Charles E. Lord and Flora (Page) Lord.
Elizabeth attended school in Laconia until her father, Major Lord, was assigned to Galveston and then El Paso Texas with the New Hampshire National Guard, Battery "C", during WWII. She graduated from Austin High School, El Paso in 1944. When the family returned to Laconia, she met and fell in love with WWII hero John E. Mont. They married June 1, 1947 and had a wonderful 67 year marriage until his death this past February.
Betty was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church for 72 years, joining in April of 1943. She worked at the Laconia National Bank, O'Shea's Department Store, Lakeport National Bank, Belknap Tire and Laconia Savings Bank. However, the "job" she loved the most was being a homemaker, a mother and a grammie. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grammie, daughter, sister and aunt. She and grampie helped their daughter Joan raise her children, Jake and Jessie. They spent lots of time with them making wonderful life long memories.
Betty loved to bake and sew. Everyone looked forward to her homemade bread and chocolate chip cookies. She made beautiful quilts for her family and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for many children. Her favorite places were her home on Lake Opechee, the Nubble Lighthouse and Moody Beach in Maine. She was so happy to sit on Moody Beach with her toes in the sand and the sun on her face watching the waves crash on the beach.
Betty is survived by her two daughters, Linda Ann Shaw and Joan Marjorie Shaw and her husband Douglas of Laconia; Nine grandchildren, Suzanne, Kevin, Matthew, Nicholas, Jacob, Stephanie, Jessica, Sierra and Cheyenne; Eight great-grandchildren, Tianna, Connor, Derek, Miles, Ruby, Jackson, Kaiden and Jaiden.
