Obituary

Paul E. Benard, 82 died December 12, 2015 at Exeter Hospital with his family by his side.Born on April 29, 1933 in Manchester he was the son of Emile and Marcella (Duhaime) Benard. He was a long time resident of Manchester and also lived in Punta Gorda, FL after retirement.

He graduated from Bishop Bradley HS class of 1952. Paul served with the Navy during the Korean Conflict and with the Army during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement he worked for Public Service Co. of NH as a lineman for over 36 years and was a real estate property investor.

He enjoyed yard sales and flea marketing, painting, landscaping, cribbage and poker. Paul was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Manchester and after moving to Florida he was treasurer and adjutant at his local VFW post. He was a volunteer ambassador at the Shell Factory in Ft. Myers for many years. Paul returned to NH in 2011 and lived in Derry. He resided at the Colonial Poplin Nursing Home for the past year due to declining health.

Family members include; his wife of 58 years, Betty (Kydd) Benard; daughter, Debbie (Benard) Desrochers and husband Roger; son, Brian Benard and wife Jackie; sister, Madeline (Benard) Tessier and husband Lionel; brother, Gerry Benard and wife Janet; 6 grandchildren, 5 Great-grandchildren, many cousins, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents; his son, David Benard; grandson, Jason Desrochers; sisters, Pauline (Benard) Poulin, Ruth (Benard) French and Doris (Benard) Olivier.

There are no calling hours. After cremation a memorial celebration will be held on Saturday January 9, 2016, 12:00pm at the Yard Restaurant, 1211 S. Mammoth Rd, Manchester, NH. In lieu of flowers please contribute to the charity of your choice in Paul’s name.
