Aurea M. (Fonseca) Silva, 83, of New Bedford died December 13, 2015 at home after a prolonged illness.
She was the wife of the late Joaquim Candido Silva.
Born in Murtosa, Portugal, the daughter of the late Manuel and Julia (Marques) Fonseca, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Silva was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
She enjoyed gardening, baking and feeding the birds.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Aurea Costeira and her husband Arlindo and Maria doCarmo Sousa and her husband Mario, all of New Bedford; 5 grandchildren, Jessica, Mario, Jr., Mary-Jo, Kimberley and Melissa; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Gloria Ruela and Julia Silva.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, December 17th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 AM. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, December 16th from 5-8 PM.
