Paul David Meier
May 21, 1935 to Dec. 11, 2015

Paul David Meier, 80, of Anderson, died Friday, December 11, 2015 of respiratory failure, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.

He was born, May 21, 1935 in Nokomis, IL to the late David and Lillian (Aumann) Meier who were Church of God Missionaries in South America for over 40 years. He lived in Brazil and Argentina, South America until age 19. He came to Anderson to attend Anderson University in 1954 where he earned a degree in Spanish. He also attended Cornell University for Peace Corp training then served in Peru until 1964.

Paul joined the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 and served in the reserves until 1964.

He worked production at Delco Remy for 36 years before retiring in 1991.

He met Charlene Roberts at Anderson University. They married in 1964 in South Charleston, W.V. Paul and Charlene had one son, David Timothy (wife Lisa) Meier of North Carolina; a grandson, David Thomas Meier of North Carolina; his sister, Nila Meier Youngman of Anderson; Erin Meier ( Lance) Tatum of Texas, Tabita Meier (Martin) Kurrle of Paraguay, South America. Paul is also survived by many nieces and nephews all over the world, also many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Susie Meier, brother, Timothy Meier and brother-in-law Robert Youngman.

He enjoyed all sports, hunting, fishing, soccer, golf and tennis. He and his wife traveled to many countries.

Paul and Charlene attended Madison Park Church of God for many years.

The family would like to say thank you to all of Paul's doctors and nurses at St. Vincent Anderson; Community Hospital and to the doctors and nurses at Bethany Pointe Health Campus.

Services will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service,
with his great friends, Rev. Steve Wilkinson of Southern Indiana and Rev. Kent Stookey of Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in Richland Township Cemetery on 300 North in Anderson.

Military graveside rites will be provided by VFW Post 266 Honor Guard.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be given to Church of God Ministries, P.O. Box 2420, Anderson, IN 46018, for the ministry and for the Children of Promise both in Paraguay, South America.
