BRAINTREE - Matilda Catterall, 95, of West Palm Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec 8, 2015 at the Royal Nursing Care facility in Braintree, Massachusetts after a prolonged illness. Matilda, known to her family and friends as “Tillie” was a friend and inspiration to all who knew her. She will forever be remembered for her cheerful attitude, unbroken smile and love for family, friends and life.
Tillie is the daughter of the late Nunzio and Nunziatta (Ferrara) Raffa, both born in Messina, Italy. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-four years, John (Jack) Catterall. Jack and Tillie were married in Providence, RI and lived in New Bedford, MA as summer residents until 2014.
Tillie is also survived by her sons, John Catterall Jr, Bruce Catterall and Kenneth Catterall and wife Celeste; beloved grandson Kristopher Catterall; brother Anthony Raffa and wife Dorothy; and sister Mary Caputo. Her love for her husband, siblings, children and grandchild will never be forgotten.
Tillie attended Saint Mary’s church in New Bedford and was employed by Aerovox Corp. and Acushnet Company during the 1950s. The following years she was a homemaker and loving mother of three.
We will miss her with all of our hearts and will always cherish the times we spent together and the love she shared with us.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. in the Acushnet United Methodist Church, 57 Main St. Acushnet, Ma.
