Kingston - Wayne K. Carmichael 71, died Monday December 7 after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of 50 years to Janice (Brown) Carmichael.
Born in Brockton and raised in Abington he was the son of the late Enoch and Phyllis (Grazioso) Carmichael, and a graduate of Abington High School, Class of 1962.
Wayne had furthered his education graduating in 1964 from the Culinary Institute of American (CIA) in New Haven, CT. Prior to his retirement he had worked for over 20 years as a culinary instructor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
He had been resident of Kingston for over 45 years where he and his wife Janice had raised their three children. He had truly enjoyed his woodworking projects and the challenge of a good crossword puzzle but his greatest joy came from his family and their memorable vacations together.
In addition to his wife Janice he is survived by his loving children Wayne K. Carmichael, Jr. and his wife Charlene of Plymouth, Pippa MacVarish and her husband Brian of Plymouth and Nina Moylan and her husband Tom of Hanson, his sister Cheryl Alaimo of Canton and his mother-in-law Eleanor Brown of Whitman. He is also survived by his grandchildren, whom he adored Hank, Bailey, John Bryce, Ainslee, Josh and Alex as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late David Carmichael.
His funeral service will be held Monday December 14 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Visiting hours will be held Sunday December 13 from 2:00-5:00 PM.
