Obituary

Louis J. Sirois, 85, of Andover passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 8, 2015. He was the devoted husband of Yvette (Houde) of 61 years. Louis was the owner of L. Sirois and Sons Construction company before his retirement in 2001, and was an active member of Carpenters Union 111. Born in Lawrence, he was the son of Ludger and Germaine (Schelling) Sirois. Louis was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and Merrimack College. A proud veteran of the Korean War, he was stationed in Alaska with the Army Corps of Engineers. He was a 62 year member of the Andover Knights of Columbus and an active member of the Saint Augustine’s Parish community.

Louis was passionate about his work, and his talent is evident in many homes in the Merrimack Valley. He was also an avid gardener and bird watcher, and enjoyed making many of his own bird houses to share with his loved ones. He enjoyed hosting family gatherings, and his legacy is his faith and his family.

Louis is survived by his wife Yvette, his sons Stephen L and wife Elaine of Andover, David P and wife Karen of Acton, Daniel V. and wife Nanci of Windham, NH, Charles F. and wife Deborah of Acton, Edward J. and wife Terri of Merrimack, NH, Timothy G. and wife Christine of Somerville, L. Joseph and Sara Hicks of Pasadena CA and daughters Anne Marie S. Messier and husband Michael of Chelmsford and Amy L. Bailey and husband Tony of Andover. He will be missed by eleven loving grandchildren - Ryan, Emily, Matthew, Nicholas, Jeffrey, Thomas, Christopher, Julia, Elizabeth, Charlotte and James. Louis is survived by three siblings- Philip Sirois of Andover, Madeleine Fluet of Lawrence, and Germaine Sheehan of Haverhill, and is predeceased by siblings Father George Sirois OMI, Sister Marie Germaine SUSC, Sister Rachael SUSC, Marguerite Beaulieu, Pauline Ichton, John Sirois, Martha Marchand, Vincent Sirois, Joseph Sirois and Francis Sirois. Louis enjoyed the company of a large extended family filled with nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

Friends and guests are invited to call on Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM at St. Augustine’s Church, 43 Essex St. Andover. A mass of Christian Burial will take place immediately following the calling hours at 12:00 Noon at St. Augustine’s Church. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery of Andover. Donations in Louis’s memory may be made to the Poor Clares Monastery, 445 River Rd. Andover, MA 01810.
