Clifford Wayne McSwain, 75, of Kennedale, Texas, died Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center in Mansfield, Texas.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Big Creek Baptist Church in Irwinville, with the Rev. Ralph Griffin officiating and Lawton Lovett delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Mr. McSwain was born July 7, 1940, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Jessie Clifford and Mary Maudell “Sugar Pie” Wilson McSwain. He was Valedictorian of his 1958 graduating class of Turner County High School. He attended Georgia Tech and enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Mr. McSwain studied language at the Defense Language Institute at Presidio of Monterey in California. He later attended Army Intelligence School in Europe. Following his return to civilian life, he worked abroad in computer technology in Germany many years before returning to America in 1990 to work at American Airlines. He retired from Medco Health Solutions in 2014. He loved his fur babies and will be greatly missed by his dog, Molly and two cats, Millie & Smokey. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ruth McSwain of Kennedale, Texas; children and their spouses: Antonio & Tina McSwain and Charlotte McSwain, all of Germany, Romana Knapp, Denaye & George Reese, and Charlotte & Gary Archer, all of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Andrew & Paula Scott of Cuero, Texas; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Catherine McSwain of Fort Worth, Texas, Inez McSwain of Ashburn, and Polly McSwain of Cumming. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Delano Russell McSwain and George Cauley McSwain; and a sister, Patsy Joan McSwain.
