Arthur J. Dorr,71,of 17 Warren Ave., died Sunday, May 29 at the
Hospice Residence in Worcester after a 6 month battle with lung cancer.
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Nancy L. (Luoma) Dorr, two sons Michael J.
Dorr of Sacramento, Calif., and Matthew J. and his wife Christine Dorr of
Rochdale, three daughters Sandra M. and her husband James C. Wilson of
Leicester, Karen A. and her husband Richard B. Car of Weare, N.H. and Laurie
E. and her husband Thomas R. Peltier of Leicester a brother Paul T. Dorr of
Leicester, two sisters Patricia A. Hartnett of Leicester and Ellen Sague of
Bricktown, N.J., 8 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Kathleen Wilson, Emily Car,
Nicole, Abrielle and Griffin Peltier, Kelci and Benjamin Dorr, several
nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a sister Mary M. Bernier and a
grandaughter Lydia M. Peltier.
Mr. Dorr was a customer engineer specialist for I.B.M. Corp. in Worcester
where he worked for 38 years, retiring in 1993. He served in the U.S. Army
during the Korean War.
He also was a firefighter on the Leicester Fire Dept. for 34 years and once
served as Captain of Station 1. He was a member of St. Pius X Church. He
enjoyed being with family and friends around the pool, reading and
woodworking. He was a Registrar of Voters at Town Hall elections for many
years.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of Arthur L. and Mary V. (Johnson) Dorr.
He graduated from Leicester High School and Wentworth Institute in Boston.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, June 1 from the MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL
HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Pius X
Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery,
Leicester. Calling hours are Tuesday, May 31 from 5 to 8p.m.
