James Edward Suggs, Sr., 75, of Tifton passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. W. E. Fogarty officiating. Mr. Suggs will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 8, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Darrell Suggs, Eddie Suggs, Ricky Suggs, Adam Suggs, Randy Pate and Jacob Conley will serve as pallbearers.
Born February 10, 1940 in Perry, Florida, Mr. Suggs was the son of the late Albert Harris and Sally Lawhorn Harris. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mavis Gail Suggs; a grandson, T. C. Suggs; five brothers, Tommy Pate, Buddy Harris, Henry Harris, Donzel Harris and Frankie Ethridge; and a sister, Mildred Tyler. He was a retired contractor and carpenter and owner and operator of Suggs Construction. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Suggs is survived by his wife, Mavis Wylene Shaw Suggs of Tifton; his children and their spouses, James Edward Jr. and Vickie Suggs of Tifton, James Darrell and Stephanie Suggs of Tifton, Thomas Richard and Sheila Suggs of Omaha, Nebraska, Margie Anna and Brian Hardwick of Charleston, South Carolina and Angela Dianne and Robert Rawson of Eustis, Florida; one sister and brother-in-law, Polly and Ed Brown of Anderson, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Karen Mitchum, Adam Suggs, Amanda Suggs, Christopher Hardwick, Bradley Hardwick, Summer Wright, Autumn Suggs, Cody Conley, Jacob Conley, Madeline Suggs, Bo Rawson, Brenna Werst and Reba Suggs; and his great-grandchildren, Lacey Mitchum, Austin Mitchum, Aiden Suggs, Abigail Suggs, Grace Suggs, Riley Smith, Tessah Suggs and Conner Hardwick.
