Isabelle (Hodkinson) MacDonald, 93, of Westport died Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was wife of John F. MacDonald, Jr. of Westport, to whom she was married for 66 years.
Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Harold and Delia (Warrener) Hodkinson, she grew up in Fall River and has been a resident of Westport since her marriage in 1949. She was a Durfee High School graduate and worked as a commercial seamstress at the former Samesta Manufacturing, Fall River until her retirement. Mrs. MacDonald was a Communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport. She was very active in Westport Town politics serving on the Board of Health and the Tax Assessors Office. She gave of her time to several charitable organizations and was recognized for her many years of service for the Fall River Bishop’s Ball. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, her sister Mary and sister in law Gerri, taking her grandsons on cruises while spending her winters in Florida, and sewing her handmade quilts for the entire family.
Including her husband, survivors include: her sons John F MacDonald III and his wife Constance and Michael J. MacDonald and his wife Jacqueline both of Westport; her brother George Hodkinson of Marston Mills; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Marion McGreavy, Eleanor Bottomly, Mary Janick and Charles, Harold and James Hodkinson.
Calling hours Tuesday 5 - 8 P.M.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
