Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street(Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 11:30am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Tues 4-8 pm. Obituary
Mrs. Gabourel died Friday at the Brockton Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born in Brockton a daughter of the late John A. Ellen M. (Brown) MacDougall and remained a life long resident of the city. She was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1948 where she was an outstanding athlete playing on several championship field hockey and basketball teams. She also played softball for St. Margaret Church.
Mrs. Gabourel retired from the Department of Youth Services after 44 years of service.
She was actively involved in her sons’ sports and assisted her late husband with coaching. She had been a member of the Twentieth Century bowling league and Brockton City League. She was an avid reader and loved animals and trips to the beach.
Mrs. Gabourel was a volunteer at the Charity Guild in Brockton. She will be remembered as a generous contributor to many charities, family and friends.

She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and several cousins.
