Obituary

Lillian Rose (Bryden) Gothing, 97, of 120 Quinapoxet Lane died Saturday, June 4, 2005, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Her husband, Paul Gothing, died in 1946. She is survived by her two sons Gilbert A. Gothing of Lancaster and Rev. Fr. Donald B. Gothing of Leominster. She is also survived by her six grandchildren Gilbert M. Gothing of Hubbardston, Cheryl A. O’Connell of Lancaster, Steven B. Gothing of Worcester, Kristine M. Gavin of Lancaster, Jon A. Gothing of Jamaica Plain and Andrea Gothing Khamis of New Brighton, MN, and 6 great-grandchildren. Ten Siblings predeceased her.

Lillian was born in Sidney, Nova Scotia, to Mary Ann MacNeil and Daniel Bryden, she graduated from Sydney Academy, and Truro Teachers College. She taught at Northside East Bay, Nova Scotia for 2 years, thereafter Rose attended and graduated from Worcester State Hospital of Nursing in 1932. She retired as Chief Supervisor in 1972.

Rose was a deeply loved Mother, Grandmother and great-grandmother. Her quick wit and wisdom will be sorely missed; and while she lived a long and fruitful life, it was nonetheless too brief for those who knew and loved her.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held Tuesday, June 7, at 10:00 am in Saint Mary of The Hills Church, Boylston. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Monday 5-8 pm at Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester.
