HOLYOKE – Walter Binczewski, 95, of Holyoke, was Called Safely Home on Monday, November 30, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Koscielna Wies, Poland on September 9, 1920, a beloved son of the late Michal Binczewski and Maria (Wozniak) Binczewski. He was raised in Poland and had lived in Germany during World War II where he met his wife, Mary. They later moved to France and began their family. The family immigrated to the United States in 1956 and settled in Holyoke. He was employed at the former Whiting Paper Company in Holyoke and later worked for many years and retired as a Quality Control Inspector at the former Moore Drop Forge Company in Springfield. He was a communicant of the former Mater Dolorosa Church in Holyoke where he served his parish as a longtime usher and volunteer to the home-bound parishioners. He was a member of the Unitas and the Holy Name Society. An avid artist, he enjoyed oil painting and was a self-proclaimed “handyman” who tried to help everyone with their home improvement projects. Most of all, he was a quiet man who loved his family and assisted them whenever the need arose. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary (Budnik) Binczewski who was Called Home on January 24, 2013. They were married in Bardovik, Germany on July 26, 1945 and were blessed with over 67 years of happiness together. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his two loving sons, Thaddeus P. “Ted” Binczewski who was Called Home on April 15, 2002 and Claude J. Binczewski who was Called Home on October 7, 2013; and his dear brother, Jan Binczewski. He leaves his loving son, John Binczewski and his wife, Rebecca, of Bethel, OH; his devoted daughter-in-law and caregiver, Alicia L. Langlois and her husband, Timothy Langlois, of Chicopee; his four cherished grandchildren, Adam C. Binczewski and his wife, Elizabeth, of Preston, CT, Ania T. Bostock and her husband, Math, of Springfield, Stefanie L. Ansanitis and her husband, David, of South Hadley and Francine R. Melbourne and her husband, Brian of South Hadley; his four cherished great-grandsons, Andrew and Ethan Ansanitis and Jacob and Joseph Melbourne; his dear brother, Edward Binczewski and his wife, Helen, of Chicopee; his sister, Josephine Zbierski of Montreal; and his four nephews and their families. A Funeral for Walter and his wife, Mary, will be held on Saturday morning, December 12, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Their burials will follow the Mass at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, 152 Pittroff Avenue, South Hadley, MA 01075. Their family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning, December 12, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
