Obituary

Mary Jane "Ducky" (Melendy) Boyle-Blanco, a 25 year resident of Somerville and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in her home in Somerville following an extended illness. She was 74 years old.

Mary Jane was born in Somerville on October 27, 1941, a daughter of the late Francis W. Melendy and Mary J. (Gallant) Melendy. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and attended Charlestown High School. Mary Jane was a homemaker throughout her life, caring for her beloved family. She was an avid slot machine player, who never confessed if she won. Mary Jane was also interested in researching and studying the Native Americans of South Dakota.

Mary Jane is the beloved wife of 40 years to Richard J. Blanco. She is the devoted mother of Edward Boyle and his wife Kathleen of New Boston, NH; Richard A. Blanco of Somerville; Linda J. Plante and her husband Steven of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and the late David M. Boyle and his surviving wife Kim Foley of Sanbornton, NH. She is the loving Nana to 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Robert F. Melendy and his wife Jean of Charlestown, and Irene Darling and her late husband Bruce of Goose Creek, SC. Mary Jane is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary Jane's visiting hours on Monday December 7, 2015 from 2 - 6 P.M. followed by her Funeral Service at 6 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be private.
