Obituary

Daniel F. Charest, 76, a resident of Hampstead, NH & Pompano Beach, FL, and formerly of Salem, NH, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday November 29th at Merrimack Valley Hospice House.
Dan was born in Lawrence, MA, the son of Romain and Blanche (Fredette) Charest. He grew up in Lawrence, MA. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Dan was a teacher at Greater Lawrence Vo-Tech for 23 years prior to his retirement in 1995.
“Pop” was our “SuperHero”. The most important thing in the world to him was his family. He spent every moment possible with his wife of 55 years Joan, and his children and grandchildren. He would spend hours, playing basketball & football, swimming, reading, biking and just loving his grandchildren. They hold a very special place in his heart and he in theirs. He also especially loved his time in Florida. He would walk on the beach for hours just enjoying the sunshine. He was the most gentle, compassionate and loving person you could ever know. He will be greatly missed.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan (Khoury) Charest. His son, Daniel II and his wife Renee (Casey) and their children, Daniel III, Olivia and Meredith, of Windham. Daughter, Michelle Keegan and her son Neal, both of Salem.
Dan is survived by his brothers, Gerald of Dracut, MA and Romain of Boston. Ronald & his wife Audrey, Robert & his wife Elaine, all of Hampstead. Sister Adonna Avery & her husband Shane of Florida, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by both his parents and his sister, Therese Bard. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Rev. James T. Khoury of Florida, Brian Khoury & his wife Linda of Derry, and Kevin Murphy of Florida. Sisters-in-law, Eileen Khoury and Jean Kalil both of Salisbury and Sheila Deeb & her husband Dennis of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and many wonderful & loving nieces and nephews.
