Obituary

Raymond W. Schleicher, 88, a Woonsocket resident since 1970, died Thursday, November 26th at the Friendly Home. He was the husband of his loving wife Vincenzina “Jeni” (Bacchiocchi) Schleicher since 1953. Born in Newton, MA, he was a son of the late Otto and Lillian (Miller) Schleicher. Raymond was a US Coast Guard and Navy Veteran and served during WWII. He began his career as a store manager for J.J. Newberry and subsequently did commercial real estate for Ben Franklin Stores, Adam’s Drug, Casual Male and Gentlemen’s Warehouse Stores. He retired from the Real Estate Department of the RI Department of Transportation in 1993. He was a member and a champion of the RI Cribbage Club. Ray was a member of the ParX Club and the American Legion.

He is survived by a son, Steven Schleicher of Houston, TX, a daughter, Lyn Schleicher of Woonsocket, two brothers, Eric Schleicher of Yarmouth, MA and Robert Schleicher of OH, two sisters Gail Schleicher of OH, and Sandra Brewer of NC and two grandchildren, Emily and Corey. He was predeceased by a brother William Schleicher and a sister Barbara Miller.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a service in the Funeral Home at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in North Smithfield. Visiting hours are Friday 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
