New Bedford – Arthur M. Matos, age 66, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the St Luke’s Hospital. He was the son of the late Maria Angelina (Piques) and Antonio Matos. Born in Agua do Pao, St. Michael, Azores, Mr. Matos moved to this country in 1971 and worked as a Landscaper.
His family includes 2 children: Sue-Ann Matos and Brian Matos, both of New Bedford, 6 siblings: Fernanda deSouza and Margarida deSouza, both of New Bedford, John Matos of Mattapoisett, Germina Raposo, Antonio Matos and Luis Matos, all of New Bedford; former wife, Leonor C. (Lima) as well as several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Wednesday beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
