Pauline A. Cappello
Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother
Pauline A. (DeMore) Cappello, age 83, a resident of Tewksbury for over 45 years, formerly of East Cambridge, passed away at home, with family at her side, on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was the beloved wife of Gaspar J. Capello, who passed away in 1993.
Born in Somerville on August 16, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Joseph C. DeMore and the late Alice (Melega) DeMore.
Pauline was raised in East Cambridge and attended East Cambridge schools.
Upon moving to Tewksbury in 1969, she dedicated her life to raising her four children.
She will lovingly be remembered for her scrumptious cooking, especially holiday dinners, and how happy she would be when her grandchildren came to visit.
Pauline attended St. Dorothy’s Church in Wilmington.
She is survived by four children, Bernard J. McGovern and his partner Jan Peterson of Belmont, William R. Cappello of Tewksbury, Joseph C. Cappello and his wife Patrice of Westford, and Gayle H. Hanson and her husband Steve of Portsmouth, NH; six grandchildren, Bernard J. McGovern, Nicholas G., Jack W., Jacob F. and Daniel J. Cappello, and Sophia H. Gillespie.
Calling hours are Thursday, Dec. 3, from 6-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 4, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral mass at 10 a.m., at St. Dorothy’s Church, cor Main & Harnden Sts., Wilmington. Interment to follow at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pauline’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
