FRAMINGHAM: Peter M. Starrett, 86, died peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2015 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Cambridge on July 14, 1929 the son of the late John T. Starrett and Ruth (Cody) Starrett.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Judy A. (Aronson) Starrett of Framingham. Loving father of Peter M. Starrett, Jr. and his wife Anna Maria of Bellingham; Dayna Klein and her husband James of Evergreen, CO; Kimberly A. Knous of Franklin and Cody T. Starrett and his wife Latha of Las Vegas, NV. Brother of Paul Starrett of Mendon and the late John, Charles and Joseph Starrett. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Peter has been a resident of Framingham for over 50 years and previously resided in Natick. He spent his formative years in Wayland and graduated from Wayland High School with the Class of 1949. He was also a graduate of Buckingham, Brown and Nichols Prep. Peter attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. He served his country proudly and with honor with the United States Navy aboard the USS Gorduis and the USS Skylark.
Peter was the owner of Starrett Paving Corporation of Marlborough which he established in 1961. He was a pioneer in the asphalt industry and well respected amongst his associates. Many of his projects included the development of Routes 495, 290 and Storrow Drive. He also served as a consultant on many paving projects for the City of Boston. In his later years, he was an accomplished painter of landscapes and still life paintings. He was a devoted and loving husband and father and was fondly called Gaga by his cherished grandchildren.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland
Family and friends are invited to go directly to Saint George Church, 80 School Street, Framingham on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 10:00 am for his Mass of Christian burial.
Interment will follow in the Starrett family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, Wayland.
