Louis E. Bobola, 100, of Fairhaven, formerly of Dartmouth, died Saturday November 28, 2015 at Our Lady's Haven.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Michael and Katherine (Skotczolek) Bobola, he lived in Dartmouth for many years.
Mr. Bobola was formerly employed as a milk delivery man for Gulf Hill Dairy and White's Farm Dairy, and ended his work career as an exterminator for New Bedford Pest Control.
During World War II, he served in U.S. Army and participated in the Battles of New Guinea, Northern Solomons, Bismarck Archipelago, Southern Philippines, and Luzon. He was the recpient of the Philippine Liberation Medal with one bronze service star and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon.
He was a member and Past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Dartmouth Post 9059.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and watching the Boston Red Sox.
The family would like to thank the staff of Our Lady's Haven, Second Floor Units A & B, for the exceptional care given to Louis during his stay there.
Survivors include six children, Louise E. Beals and her husband Ron of Pittsfield, Robert M. Bobola and his wife Nancy of Fairhaven, Ronald S. Bobola and his wife Vi of Lakeville, Ann K. Bobola and her companion Bob Roy, and Richard L. Bobola and his wife Paula, all of Dartmouth, and Christine M. Jenkins and her husband Jim of Acushnet; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Sophie Posiviata, Agnes Kirk, and Edward M. Bobola.
His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 12 Noon at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, with visitation from 10 AM - 12 Noon, prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Our Lady's Haven, 71 Center St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
