John G. Maragnano, 73

John G. Maragnano, age 73, of Hampstead NC, formerly of Norton and Mansfield, MA passed away unexpectedly on Friday November 27, 2015 while visiting family in Chattanooga TN. He was the beloved husband of Claire (Major) Maragnano for 51 years.
Born in Hartford, CT on March 3, 1942 he grew up in East Hartford, CT graduating from East Hartford High School in 1960. A year later he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served for 4 years.
For most of his adult life he was a resident of Mansfield Massachusetts where he was an active member of the community, and a long time member of the Lions Club. He worked at Codex Corporation for many years then changed careers in 1990 to become a Real Estate broker for Gerry Abbott Realtors. He and Claire recently retired to Hampstead, North Carolina.
He loved his time spent at his camp on Lake Moxie in The Forks, Maine where he enjoyed cooking, hunting and fishing. He loved to travel with Claire and visit with friends and family around the country and abroad. Most of all he loved his time spent with his family, his wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife, John is survived by his devoted and loving children James Maragnano and his wife Lisa of Chattanooga, TN, Laura Erickson and her husband Peter of Hampstead, NC and Mark Maragnano and his wife Bernadette of Attleboro, MA. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Samantha, Johnathan, Isabelle, Calvin, Michael, Anthony and Trevor.
He is also survived by his sister Carol Sanderson and her husband Guy of Naples, FL, his sister Barbara Ronski and her husband Steve of Tolland, Ct, his sister Marianne Blake and her husband Larry of Groveland, FL, his brother Tom Maragnano and his wife Laura of Bristol, CT, his sister Susan Miller and her husband Wally of Windham, NH, and his brother Bill Maragnano and his wife Sandy of Windsor, CT. Additionally he leaves countless nieces, nephews, and an amazing and beloved extended family far too numerous to list.
His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday, December 5th at 9:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Military honors will be held the conclusion of services. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 4th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
