TAUNTON –Dolores G. (Gonsalves) Barboza, wife of the late Harry Barboza, died at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital on Nov. 25, 2015.
She was 76.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late James and Antonia (Monteiro) Gonsalves. She was a lifelong area resident.
Employed by the Dept. of Health, Dolores worked as a vocational instructor at Taunton State Hospital for many years, later working as a house manager.
She had also served as a constable for the City of Taunton some time ago.
A communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church, Dolores was a member of the Cape Verdean Progressive Center of East Providence and was past vice president of the Taunton Cape Verdean Association.
Survivors include 3 sons, Brian Barboza of New Bedford, Anthony Barboza of Taunton and Scott Barboza of Kississimmee, FL; a daughter, Arlene Nicholas of Taunton; a stepson, Robert Barboza of Taunton; a brother, Robert Gonsalves of New Bedford; 4 sisters, Anna Barros of New Bedford, Mary Lou Antone and Antonia Monteiro, both of Newport, RI and Jo-Ann Lopes of Taunton; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also mother to the late Daniel James Barboza and sister to the late Amelia Sanders, James Gonsalves JR, Isabel Monteiro, Alfred Gonsalves, Hilda Avellar and Samuel Gonsalves.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Tuesday, Dec. 1st at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 30th from 5 to 8 p.m.
