Elizabeth H. Saulle (Bartha) age 98 of Canton, formerly of Mansfield passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family November 26th at Cornerstone at Canton. Born and raised in Wallingford, Ct, she graduated from New York School of Decorating and Design and worked for many years as an Interior Designer with clients from New York City to the Hamptons and was the resident Interior designer for Sweezy’s Department Store in Patchogue, N.Y. During the 70’s she and her husband, Sal, owned and operated the Long Island McArthur Airport Gift Shop. Elizabeth did extensive volunteer work beginning with the American Red Cross as a “Grey Lady” during WW II and later organizing fund raisings for Brookhaven Memorial Hospital and Girl Scouts of America. After raising her family in Brookhaven Hamlet, Long Island she and her husband retired to Fort Meyers, Florida where they volunteered many hours of service to the Lee County Alliance of the Arts running its gift shop. Elizabeth loved travel, the arts, painting, cooking Hungarian dinners for her family, challenging anyone to a game of scrabble and singing patriotic songs with her grandchildren, especially God Bless America.
Beloved wife of the late Salvatore S. Saulle and William H. Harder. Mother of Beverly A. Giordano and her husband Bud of Canton, Ilona “Susan” Maddestra and her husband Bob of Canton, William Saulle and his wife Judy of VA, Robert Saulle and his wife Shirley of FL, and Stephen Saulle and his wife Karen of VA. Sister of the late Joseph Bartha, Emma Gulick, Irene Komlosky and Maria Brezina. Also survived by 18 grandchildren and 30 great grand children and 1 great great grandson. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Friday 4-8 pm. Funeral service at the United Church of Christ 1541 Washington St. Canton Saturday morning December 5th at 10 am. Burial Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
