Obituary

Mellie Roark Chaudoin, 82, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, November 23, 2015, at Rehabilitation Services of South Georgia in Tifton.

Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Crossview Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Parmer and the Rev. Sonny Pate officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary.

Mrs. Chaudoin was born August 24, 1933, in Rose Hill, Virginia, to the late Robert E. Lee Roark & Quinnie Edna Stubblefield Roark. She was a retired Operator/Service Manager for General Telephone. Mrs. Chaudoin traveled extensively in the United States, including Alaska & Hawaii, serving as Hostess for Rambler’s Travel. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Dorminy Medical Center for a number of years, serving as their President and scrapbook chair. She was a member of the Ramblin’ Sisters, a local Red Hat group, and she enjoyed crocheting and working in her yard. Mrs. Chaudoin also worked at the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill County Library for a number of years. Currently a member of Crossview Baptist Church, Mrs. Chaudoin served in ministry alongside her husband in whatever area the churches needed her.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Robert W. Chaudoin of Fitzgerald; children and their spouses: Steve & Marilyn Gibbons of Fitzgerald, Pam & Jerry Bartle of Waynesville, North Carolina, and Sue Ellen Crawford of Fitzgerald; children by marriage: Steve & Jenny Chaudoin of Atlanta, Larry & Sandra Chaudoin of LaGrange, and Beverly & Brian Gunter of Fitzgerald; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
