Obituary

Manchester – Mary Catherine “Susie” Hayden passed away after a period of declining health on November 22, 2015.

Susie was born in Portland, ME. on April 29, 1932 the fourth of seven children born to Michael and Anna (McArdle) Conley.

She graduated from Portland High School in Portland, ME in 1950. Immediately after graduation and the untimely death of her father, she stayed home to assist her mother with raising three of her younger siblings. In 1954, she met the love of her life, Daniel John “Bones” Hayden, who she was married to for over 57 years.

Above all else, Susie was about her family. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, ‘Gram’ and ‘Gaga’ and friend to all. Everyone who knew her would say that she was ‘always there’, everyone’s ‘base’. She was an absolute gift, a ‘one of a kind’. The world was truly a better place with her in it.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the wonderfully kind people at Hanover Hill Health Care Center for all they did to assist our Mom during the past year.

She was predeceased by her husband “Bones” who passed away in 2013 and she leaves three sons, Paul V. Hayden of Manchester, John J. Hayden and his wife LeeAnne Hayden of Manchester, Michael T. Hayden and his wife Hollie Hayden of Thousand Oaks, CA., and two daughters, Jane A. Gatsas and her husband John of Manchester and Jean M. Mitchell and her husband Joe also of Manchester. She also leaves her eleven grandchildren Dan, Erin, Jake, Hayden, Emily, Phillip, Ryan, Abigail, Jess, Bobby and Molly.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at St. Catherine Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that one donate to a charity of their choosing.
