Obituary

Olga Ann Daley, age 88, passed away peacefully at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Plano, TX on November 20, 2015, after a lingering illness. She is rid of the wheel chair and is now dancing with her beloved husband and love of her life, Michael J. Daley, who, after 57 years of marriage, passed away in 2005.
Olga is survived by her son, Michael Jr., and his wife, Joy, who live in Plano, TX. She is also survived by her dear friend, Virginia Balicki, of Westwood, MA, who she considered the daughter she never had.
Olga was born on the first day of the summer of 1927 in Fall River, MA. She was the only child of Adam and Mary Shemet and she graduated from Durfee High in Fall River. She met Big Mike after graduation and they were married in 1948. They moved to Springfield, MA and ultimately to West Roxbury, while Mike pursued a career with Anderson Little. It was in West Roxbury that they raised Mike Jr. and were active members of St. Theresa’s parish and the community.
Olga sadly left West Roxbury after Big Mike’s passing, and moved to a condo at The Beach House in Deerfield Beach, FL., where she and Big Mike had wintered over the years. She enjoyed dining out with her many new friends and always had the best tan at the pool.
After several years, Olga moved to Appletree Court, an assisted living facility in Texas, to be closer to Mike and Joy. In 2014, due to health concerns, she moved to Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
Olga was happiest when she was conversing with someone, even a total stranger. She always had so much to share. It was not uncommon to see Olga surrounded by many listeners. In the end, her caretakers still called her “The Queen” since everyone naturally gravitated toward her.
A special thanks to Angel Hands Hospice and all who lovingly cared for Olga. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Thursday, December 3 at 9am. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa Church at 10 o’clock. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 pm.
