Obituary

Worcester—Arthur I. Swan, 86, died Thursday, June 2, 2005, at Knollwood Nursing Home. His wife, Alma (Yleva) Swan, died in 1988. He leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Paul A. and Ruth M. Swan of Worcester; his sister, Aina Cutler-Swan; his granddaughter, Jennifer M. Swan of Princeton, and his friend, Nancy Person of Worcester.

He was born in Worcester, son of John and Edla (Alta) Swan. A decorated WWII veteran, he was a Corporal in the Army and served with the 213th Field Artillery Battalion and received the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Arthur was a wire drawer at the former Millbury High Carbon Co. He was mason with the Rufus Putnam Lodge and a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He had a great sense of humor and loved to dance.

Funeral services will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Monday, June 6, with a calling hour at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Assn., 1 Abbey Lane, Middleboro, MA 02346.
