BELMONT – Ruth T. Murtagh, 95, of Belmont, died Friday, November 20, 2015 at the home of her daughter Dorothy and son-in-law Al Sausville, after a period of declining health. Ruth lived in Gilford for many years before moving in with her daughter.
She was born on November 5, 1920 in Worcester, MA., the daughter of the late George H. and Mary (O’Neil) Matthews. Ruth was a former member of the Ashland VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her two sons, John H. Murtagh and his wife, Marilyn, of Houston, Texas and Thomas W. Murtagh and his wife, Carol, of Alton, N.H.; a daughter, Dorothy A. Sausville and her husband Alfred, of Belmont, several grandchildren, great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, Patricia Murtagh of Ashland, Mass. and many nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Murtagh was predeceased by her husband of 74 years, George R. Murtagh in 2013, one son, George R. Murtagh, Jr., and a daughter, Patricia Richardson.
Services will be held at a later date and will be announced.
