Mary (Hanna) Howard age 82 formerly of Milton, MA died Monday, November 16th, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Mary was born and raised in Dorchester. She graduated from Dorchester High for girls and went to work for the Civilian Personnel Department of Defense in South Boston from where she retired after 40 years. She married John H. Howard in 1956 and together they moved to Milton and raised 5 children. She was an active member of St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Milton where she taught CCD, was a longtime member of their choir, and was a layperson who visited shut ins and those in the hospital to bring communion. She traveled extensively with her good friends and had a love for the music and the movies of the 30’s and 40’s. Beloved wife of the late John H. Mother of John “Jack” of Natick, Mary E. “Mimi” Zakarian and her husband Raymond of Lakeville, Margaret E. “Peg” Solari and her husband Rob of Milford, NH, Joan L. Fitzgerald and her husband Paul of Whitman, Joseph W. and his wife Deirdre of Hanover and the late Elizabeth M. Howard. Sister of Eleanor Judge of Hull and the late Jake and William Hanna. Grandmother of Molly, Jake, Michael, Joseph, Daniel, Taylor, Jack and Colin. Funeral mass at St. Elizabeth Church Milton Saturday morning at 9. Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Friday 4-8 pm. Burial St. Joseph’s Cemetery, W. Roxbury.
