Obituary

SHERBORN: Alix (Halperin) Nelson-Frick, age 77, of Nantucket and New York City, died peacefully at the Sherborn, MA home of her daughter on November 12, 2015.

Mrs. Nelson-Frick was a renowned author, book editor and advertising executive. Retired CEO of the New York advertising agency, Franklin Spier, Inc., she grew up in Manhattan, the daughter of legendary advertising copywriter Shirley Polykoff. Alix contributed reviews and articles to The New York Times Book Review, Newsday and women’s magazines. Among her publications, she authored Amazon Best Sellers “The Stuff of Legends – A Daughter’s Take on the Woman Who Transformed Advertising in the 1960’s” and “My Inner India – Unraveling While Traveling from Delhi to Mumbai.” Her recent book, “Hilarity – the Arc of a Life,” takes stock with grace and humor of a life well-lived. She continued her thoughts and musings on her popular blog, “Hilarity,” at AlixFrick.com until her passing.

Wife of the Late Robert W. Frick, she and her husband spent their retirement years living on Nantucket and traveling throughout the world.

She is survived by her daughter, Shawn Nelson Laughlin and her husband Buz of Sherborn, and her daughter, Corin Nelson of Santa Monica, CA; her stepdaughter, Amy L. Frick of NYC; three grandchildren, Adden Laughlin and Phoebe Laughlin of NYC, and Gus Laughlin of Sherborn; and a sister, Laurie Zucker and her husband Arthur of Athens, OH.
