Harold R. Sims, 83, of Abington, died suddenly, November 8th at home. He was the husband of Blanche (Webber) Sims for 62 years.
He was born in Boston, son of the late Joseph W. and Marian (Pratt) Sims. Harold was raised in Weymouth, a graduate of Weymouth High School class of 1949 and a graduate of Northeastern University with a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
He served his country in the United Sates Air Force from 1949-1952.
Harold was the administrator of the nuclear department at General Dynamics for many years, until he started his own business,HR Sims Enterprises.
He was a active member of the Abington Rotary Club serving as it’s Past President, Club Secretary and Bulletin Editor. He also served as the District Secretary and was a Paul Harris Fellow.
Harold was actively involved in Abington Youth Hockey for many years, as well as the South Shore Braves hockey program. As he retired he remained active in the community. He spent time woodworking with the “Old Boys Club” at Frank’s greenhouse. Harold enjoyed time at RO-JO-HA-MA-JO, his camp in Plymouth with his family.
In addition to his wife Blanche, he is survived by his children Janis Wilson and her husband William, J. Barry Sims, Jayne Moniz and her husband Peter and Gene Sims and his wife Dawn, six grandchildren, Alana, Amanda and her husband Scott, Jared, Harrison, PJ and Sydney.
His funeral services will be held on Thursday November 12th at 7:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St.(RT 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Interment will be in the MA National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date. Visitation will be held prior to his service from 4:00-7:00PM.
