BAR MILLS- Jean Kirkwood Bennett, age 91, passed away on November 9, 2015 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House surrounded by family.
She was born in Ossipee Valley, NH on Nov. 27, 1923, the daughter of the late Dana and Elizabeth (Phillips) Kirkwood.
Jean was the valedictorian of her class at Ossipee High School and went on to attend Nashua Business College.
She was a secretary and part owner of Crest Glass Inc. in South Portland.
She was a life member and Past President of the auxiliary organization of the VFW in South Portland and is a Past President of the Buxton/Hollis Lioness and Lions Club.
Jean will always be remembered for her love of family, reading, and yard sales.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband- Walter “Wally” Bennett who died in 2006; and a brother- Lawrence Dana Kirkwood.
Jean is survived by her son- David Baldwin Sr. and his wife Debra of Bar Mills; daughter- Nancy Hendricks and her husband Richard of Buxton; four grandchildren- Heather Mains, Elissa Turkett, Corey Baldwin and David Baldwin Jr.; and ten great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, Nov. 13, at 1 PM at South Buxton (Tory Hill) Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service, Buxton.
