Obituary

Kathleen A. (Sankey) Cardoza, 59, of New Bedford died Sunday May 29, 2005 at Brockton Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in December 1991 while on a skiing trip. She was the wife of Paul F. Cardoza.

Born in Butler, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Raymond and Harriet (Gillis) Sankey, she had lived in New Bedford since 1977.

She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church, where she had also served as a C.C.D. teacher.

Mrs. Cardoza was formerly employed as a computer specialist at the Newport Naval Hospital.

She served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. She had also been a Cub Scout leader, a Brownie leader, and an Assistant Girl Scout leader.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Adam Cardoza of Gunter, Texas; a daughter, Antonia Cardoza of Fall River; four brothers, John Sankey of Alabama, James Sankey of Virginia, Paul Sankey of New Hampshire, and Charles Sankey of Ohio; a sister, Sharon Brauksieck of Albany, New York; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Friday June 3, 2005 at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Burial with military honors will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
