Manchester NH– Edward J. Mulcahy Sr., 94 died October 30, 2015 at E. N. Rogers Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born in Cambridge, MA. on September 14, 1921 the son of Cornelius and Hannah (Higgins) Mulcahy.
He served his country as a Staff Sargent during World War II in the Army Air Corps earning the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a Airplane Armored Gunner in the 703rd Bombardment Squadron 445th Bombardment Group.
He was a self employed aluminum siding contractor . He enjoyed dog and horse racing at Rockingham Park with his son and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Claire (Field) Mulcahy, a son, Edward J. Mulcahy Jr., a grandson, Shane Wyse, a brother, Buddy Mulcahy, and a sister, Margaret Kilfoye.
Family members include three daughters, Denise Wyse and her husband, Russell of Winchester, MA., Mary Lou Martin and her husband, Ed of S. Yarmouth, MA., Jennifer Cheetham and her husband, Greg of Lake Oswego, OR., nine grandchildren, Greg, Kate, Courtney, Ryan, Michelle, Danielle, Lexi, Cooper, Bailey, seven great grandchildren, Jake, Brett, Colin, Maddison, Delaney, Thomas Shane, Cole, and Little Al due in January, a brother, Joe Mulcahy of Somerville, and two sisters, Irene Sawyer, Mary Ann Helmuth both of Cambridge, MA.
A committal service with military honors will take place on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 12 Noon in NH State Veteran Cemetery Chapel.
