HAZEL R. (CARTER) WOOD, age 97, a Hingham resident for most of her life, died on Friday, May 27th at the Norwell Knoll Nursing Home in Norwell. Mrs. Wood was born in Lynn where she was raised and educated, graduating from Lynn English High School.
A homemaker, Mrs. Wood was very active with the Dorothy Bradford Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of Hingham, the Hingham Assembly # 76 Order of Rainbow for Girls and the Hingham Senior Citizens.
Wife of the late James O. Wood, she is survived by 3 daughters; Mary L. Pratt of Cohasset, Linda W. Ash of Wyoming, formerly of Cohasset and Roberta J. Sands of Weymouth. Also survived by several grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Ruth D. Johnson.
A Memorial Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, June 4th at 11 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.
Visiting hours and flowers omitted by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory the Shriner's Burns Institute, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
The interment will follow in Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset.
